Orthopedic Physician Assistant Position – Lakes Region of New Hampshire

Join a collaborative and well-established orthopedic team serving a vibrant community in the scenic Lakes Region of New Hampshire. We are seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to support a busy and diverse orthopedic practice focused on general orthopedics, total joints (including MAKO technology), and sports medicine.

Position Overview

This role offers a balanced blend of clinic, operating room, inpatient, and emergency department responsibilities. You’ll work closely with a team of 4 orthopedic surgeons and 3 fellow PAs in a highly collegial environment.

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • FTE Structure: 32 patient-facing hours + 8 administrative hours weekly
  • Patient Volume: 15–20 patients per day
  • Clinic Mix: Some weeks include 2 OR days and 2 clinic days
  • Call Schedule: Rotating schedule shared among 4 PAs

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive orthopedic evaluations, including medical histories and physical exams
  • Diagnose and manage musculoskeletal conditions across the care continuum
  • Execute in-office procedures such as:
    • Joint and bursa aspirations
    • Injections (joint, tendon, trigger point)
    • Fracture and dislocation reductions
    • Splinting, casting, and bracing
  • First assist in the OR, including tissue closure and surgical support
  • Round on hospitalized patients, complete admission and discharge documentation
  • Manage same-day acute visits and triage urgent cases
  • Educate patients and families on conditions, treatment options, and prevention
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, including surgeons, hospitalists, ED staff, and nursing

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • NCCPA Certification required
  • Minimum 2+ years of orthopedic experience preferred
  • Demonstrated orthopedic procedural competency (case volume, additional training, or prior orthopedic practice)
